Dr. Dowd presented the Safety Plan which was updated from last Spring. Members reviewed the 2015-16 goals and activities, then looked at the 2015-16 Emergency Plan which was updated with staff names as needed.
The SSC approved the Safety Plan last Spring, but because there are new members now, as well as a new Safety Plan format and some changes to the plan, the SSC was asked to vote again on the plan. There was a discussion about the function of the plan for new members.
Jennifer Bridge motioned to approve the Safety Plan as presented, and Doug Grebe seconded the motion. The motion was unanimously approved.
Dr. Dowd passed out and walked SSC member through the 2015-16 Attendance Plan. There was a discussion about the Plan and strategies included to enhance attendance.
The SSC did not have time to review and analyze the 2014-15 online WA Parent Survey. This will be postponed until the November meeting.
The SPSA (School Plan for Student Achievement) was passed out to new members with a brief explanation of its purpose. Dr. Dowd shared that the SPSA would be reviewed together again at a future meeting soon because the state has directed that more funds be sent to schools to support Common Core implementation. We don’t know the amount of the funds yet, but they should be spent according to the dictates of our SPSA. Our plans for expenditures will be discussed when we are told the amount of funds we will have to spend.
Dr. Dowd passed out the SSC Bylaws and gave a heads-up that the SSC will review the Bylaws in Spring 2016. There was no time to discuss the bylaws so that was postponed.
Dr. Dowd updated the SSC regarding school news.
- She shared and explained 2014-15 CDE test results.
- She reminded the council of upcoming annual activities including Community Service Day, the Great CA Shake-Out, Inservice Day, Red Ribbon Week, the upcoming PFC meeting, and Carnival.
There was no public input.
Meeting was adjourned at 4:06 p.m.
